Salam from Vienna

This is my first message (blog) from Vienna. I have arrive here last sunday to participate and present paper in the European Geophysical Union (EGU) Metting (one of the greatest Geophysical events in the world aside the American Geophysical Union (AGU) meetings, two times a year, but it is sure that the EGU meeting is the greatest one in Europe) . It is one of the largest scientific events in theWorld and about 10000 people have participated. An abstract of all of the actually researches in geophysical earthscinces in the world might be seen here!!!... Anyway, I should type in English therefore I dicided to write in English (that is against my habitude in writing my blogs in Persian). The weather in Vienna is Cloudy and it was raining scince yesterday. However the tempreture is good and something 10 dgree below that the actual temprature in Tehran. I have an strange feeling here in Vienna, first of all because Vienna is the historical Capital of Art and specially the Classical Music (which I love it!), and now there are the brochurs of the concerts in all over the city, specially the concerts on the Mozart concertos, because the coming year of 2006 is the 250th anniverssary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (He was born in 1756 and died in 1791, unfortunately, this genius musician had a very short life, about 36 years). Secondly, in the conference I feel that I am always missing an event, because there are about 20 parallel event each day and all the time!!!... I try to follow as much as possible the talks and visit the poster. For me this meeting is like an GAS Station for a Car!!!, I should take as much as possible the fuel, in order to be able to follow research and teaching in my homeland... I promise that I wil try my best!!....
I should inform you that about 15 Iranians from inside Iran and something similar from abroad have participated in the event, which I think that it is very few, and in this most important Geophysical event in the world, unfortunately some of the Iranian Institutes has no representative and the Iranian known Geophysicist have neglected it... EGU is an annual meeting and AGU is two times a year, and if it is very difficult for us actually to take an American Visa to participate in AGU meeting, the EGU is an European Event and there is no problem for Iranians to take the Visa...
